curry is a part of Burmese cuisine. Ametha Net Aloo Hin (Beef and Potato curry) is one of the more popular meat dishes in Burmese culture.
Ingredients[]
- 750 g Beef
- 375 g potatoes
- 2 large onions
- 5 large cloves garlic
- 2 teaspoons ginger, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 8 tablespoons light sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups water

Cut Beef into large squares. Wash and peel potatoes. Cut into quarters. Put Onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric and chili powder in a food processor. Process until you get a pasty mixture. In a wok or deep-sided frying pan, heat oil. Add spicy paste and stir. Cook in low heat for 10 minutes. Add a little water if the mixture starts to burn or dry. The spicy paste is cooked when it is golden brown and has oil around the edges. Add cumin and coriander and stir. Add Beef and fry. Stir for 3–5 minutes. Add salt to taste, 2 cups water and potatoes. Simmer slowly until Beef and potatoes are tender. Serves 4.
