Ingredients[]
- 1 small loaf Italian bread
- 1/3 cup bottled Italian dressing
- 1 head romaine lettuce
- 4 tomatoes, each cut in 6 thin slices
- 2 pkg assorted sliced cold cuts (bologna, salami, ham, cappacola, sausage)
- 4 slices provolone, halved
- 8 large fresh mushrooms, washed, trimmed and sliced thin
- 1 small can sardines, drained
- 12 small green onions, washed and trimmed
- Watercress
- red and green pepper strips
- ripe and green olives
- Sweet pickles
Directions[]
- Cut bread in half lengthwise.
- Drizzle with salad dressing.
- Top with romaine.
- Layer bread this way: tomatoes, meat, tomatoes, cheese, meat, mushrooms, and sardines.
- Lay 3 green onions across top of each sandwich.
- Tuck sprigs of watercress between layers or around edge of plate.
- Garnish with pepper strips, olives, pickles and additional salad dressing.
