Apple Peel Wine

Description

Purchased from the Rosenthal Estate in Montgomery, Alabama in 1989. Dated 1936. Very different, but very good.

Ingredients

• 1 gallon water
• 3 yeast cakes
• 5 pounds sugar
• 1 quart orange juice
• juice of 3 medium lemons
• peeling from 12 tart apples

Directions

1. Bring water to a boil.
2. Dissolve yeast cakes in boiling water.
3. Stir in sugar, orange juice, lemon juice and apple peeling.
4. Remove from heat; pour into a large jug but do not fill completely to top.
5. Do not tighten lid on jug.
6. Let peeling and juices stand for 9 days.
7. Strain and sweeten to taste.
