Description EditA fresh, divine alternative to the original bagel, this extraordinary, toasty sandwich is packed with real cheese and tomatoes and maintains a crisp taste with the bagels. Basil sometimes works for this for garnishing, too.
- 5 fresh bagels
- 5 tomato slices
- 5 cheese slices cheese (Cheddar, Colby, Colby-Jack, Parmesan, Provolone, or Swiss)
- basil leaves, optional
- Cut each bagel in half and arrange tomatoes on one slice and cheese on the other.
- Place on the cooking sheet and broil in an oven until cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven and put the bagel sandwich together. Serve hot and plain or with other side dishes, main dishes, or appetizers and garnish with the basil leaves, if desired.
