This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Michel Estate in Terrell, Texas in 1996.

Ingredients

- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup butter room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 4 eggs
- 6 tablespoons butter
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla

- Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Generously grease a tube pan and dust lightly with flour.
- Blend flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, butter, vanilla and eggs together.
- Beat until moistened then beat an additional 3 minutes.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 60 minutes.
- In a small saucepan combine butter, sugar, water and vanilla and heat until butter melts.
- Do not boil.
- When cake is cooked remove from oven and pierce hot cake 10 to 12 times.
- Slowly pour hot butter sauce over cake then cool in pan 40 minutes.
- Remove from pan and serve.
