  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onion and garlic; sauté 2 minutes.
  3. Add peas, water, and bacon; bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat; simmer, partially covered, 30 minutes or until tender.
  5. Discard bacon.
  6. Stir in salt and pepper.

Yield: 6 servings (serving size: 1/2 cup)
