- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1/4 cup butter or shortening
- 1/4 cup applesauce
- 2 tbsp sweet*10 liquid
- 2 tbsp vanilla
- 2 eggs, beaten, or substitute
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 cup nuts, chopped

- Add vanilla, sweetener, eggs. Stir until well-blended and add the dry ingredients. Mix until well-blended, stir in chopped nuts, pour into a greased 8" square pan. Level batter smoothly. Bake at 325 °F for 20 minutes. Cut into 16 squares.
