There aren’t many appetizer recipes in Angolan cuisine. Usually, the main course is served at the starting of the meal. However, there are some appetizers that are cooked in special situations such as weddings or other celebrations. Some examples of Angolan appetizers are:
- Piri-Piri Kabobs – The main ingredients of Piri-Piri Kabobs are sweet potatoes, venison, red sweet peppers and, for the piri-piri mix: paprika, oregano, ground ginger, ground cardamom, garlic, onion and ground piri-piri pepper. The dish is grilled for 25-30 minutes until the sweet potatoes are tender.
- Corn and Marigold Fritters – Corn and Marigold Fritters is a very exotic recipe that consists of sweet corn kernals, cream, flour, baking powder, white pepper, sea salt, marigold petals and sunflower oil. This is an excellent supper dish that children will enjoy very much.
- Papaya with Port Wine – a very simple and tasty recipes made from papaya, lime and Port or Madeira wine.
