Jamaica does not have a great variety of soup recipes. Most of them are based on meat, such as beef and fish. Others are based on pumpkins, such as the Cream of Pumpkin soup. However, soup have in each cuisine a major role: to facilitate the transition from appetizers to the main dishes and hence, to complete the meal. The most famous Jamaican soups are:
