Even though Latvia’s land provides a lot of vegetables, the most popular Latvian salad is Latvian herring salad. First, you have to make sure you have all the necessary ingredients: soaked in milk and diced herring in brine, apples, onions, hard boiled eggs, pickled cucumbers, fresh cream, curry, and mayonnaise. Other interesting combinations of mushrooms, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, eggs, black peas, green beans, carrots, or parsley can be transformed into a delicious Latvian salad. Salads made of fresh vegetables have lots of vitamins and they are a real source of energy.
