Marathi cuisine is one of the most delicious cuisines, and it indeed has a wide range of foods to offer you. The recipes have considerable detail to stick to, and indeed, you need to make sure that you follow the instructions closely in order to obtain the best taste possible in Marathi cuisine.

The following is a recipe of a Marathi dish called Varan (Maharastrian Dal). The ingredients used include: ¼ teaspoon sugar or jaggery (gud), 1 cup Toor dal, 1 teaspoon ghee or butter, 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, a pinch of asafetida (hing), few mustard seeds and salt to taste.

For garnishing, you need 2 tablespoons full or more cilantro (chopped coriander)

Steps for preparing Varan:

First, boil the Toor dal with sugar or jaggery (gud), salt or asafetida, and turmeric. Then, boil until the mixture is cooked well.

Heat the ghee or butter in a pan on a moderate flame. As the ghee heats up, add in the mustard seeds. You need to stop this process of heating once you hear a starts crackling sound.

Next, add the ghee over dal, and cook it for around 5 minutes. Finally, sprinkle chopped cilantro, and the dish is ready to serve.

It must be observed that there are many more dishes such as the one described above, and indeed, they are all pretty easy to cook. The steps are simple and the food produced is delicious. Indeed, it can be asserted that Varan is an easy dish to prepare, and Marathi cuisine makes an interesting cuisine to investigate.
