Mauritius cuisine is a very complex one and knew over the time many influences either from the Indian or Chinese immigrants or from the French and English colonists. Because of the ethnical diversity Mauritius cuisine is very rich in all kind of recipes and special dishes. Travelers can try food with origins on three main continents. Most famous dishes among the locals are Indian curries, Creole rougailles, Muslim bryanis, Chinese sweet and sour pork, the typical English bacon and eggs or French delicate dishes. Easily can be seen that Mauritius cuisine can satisfy anyone tastes. Still not every influence was adopted and combined with the local and traditional cooking methods. Although Mauritius was under British rule for over 150 years, the British cuisine didn’t have to much of an influence over this country cuisine.
