In Guinea salads are mostly made from vegetables or fruits but some recipes might include meat also. The high diversity of salads that exist in Guinea makes them easily adaptable to any kind of dish or meal. This way salads can easily be served as appetizers, snakes, desserts or even as main dishes. Some of the most eaten salad in Guinea is the typical fruit salad, rich in exotic fruits and ingredients and very easy to prepare. This salad might contain sinach, romaine, chicory, lettuce, fresh pineapple, fresh mango, avocado, oranges, fresh coconut, banana, strawberries and mayonnaise. It should be served with a dressing made from mayonnaise, whipped cream, sugar and few drops of green vegetable coloring. The salad made with bananas is very famous in Guinea. A good banana salad should always contain 4 or 6 well ripened bananas, flour, granulated sugar and some nutmeg. The bananas are being mashed with a blender until they form a thick paste and after that we add the flour. The water and the sugar are mixed together and make syrup. After that we add nutmeg and syrup to bananas and mix them again very well. Finally we fry the composition like pancakes.
