Among the most common drinks, there is the mate, which is specific to all the Latin countries and it is named in Paraguay yerba mate. The mate has been a stable drink since before the Spanish arrived in this region and it is prepared with various herbs. Mate’s taste is similar to tea and the drink is consumed with a straw called bombilla from a special bowl, which is passed from person to person. There are many variations of mate, like mint mate or mate rooibos. Besides mate, there are other sorts of teas, which are served hot and coffee, as well.
