Commonly Puerto Rican desserts comprise of some form of custard or perhaps 'nisperos de batata' which are sweet potato balls with coconut, cloves and cinnamon. Guava jelly with queso blanco (white cheese) is an extremely popular traditional Puerto Rican dessert. Most of the recipes that you will find in Puerto Rican cuisine are made from fruits; such as the orange layer cake, banana cupcakes and guava cupcakes. Coconut is the common dessert ingredient in the cuisine of Puerto Rico. Some of the most delicious Puerto Rican desserts are prepared using coconut milk (leche de coco), including coconut flan, coconut cream desserts, coconut puddings, etc.
