Tanzanian soups are both meatless and with chicken or beef and they contain amounts of beans and rice. Besides these, coconut is another aliment found a lot in the Tanzanian soup. The coconut bean soup is prepared with onions, green peppers, curry powder, pepper, butter, kidney beans and coconut milk. After preparing this, rice is added to the mixture and coconut is used as a topping. Another enjoyed soup is the nayama, also called Tanzanian soup, as it is a traditional dish. Nayama is prepared with tomatoes – chopped and paste, lime, minced beef, coconut, garlic and all sorts of condiments: turmeric, cloves, curry powder and cayenne pepper. A sweet and spicy soup is represented by the Tanzanian curried chicken banana soup, which is prepared with peanut oil, chopped chicken, onion, garlic, curry powder, red chili, black pepper, tomatoes, chicken stock, unsweetened coconut and bananas. Soups are usually served hot in deep bowls.
