  1. Preheat oven to 375 °F.
  2. Lightly grease a 2-quart square baking dish; set aside.
  3. Rinse cherries; remove stones, cut each cherry in half.
  4. Rinse blueberries; remove any stems.
  5. In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, and ginger.
  6. Add cherries, blueberries, and raspberries (or other berries).
  7. Toss to coat.
  8. Add 2 cups of the bread cubes; toss gently until well-combined.
  9. Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish.
  10. Place remaining 3 cups of bread cubes in a medium bowl.
  11. Drizzle with melted butter; toss to coat.
  12. Sprinkle over cherry-berry mixture.
  13. Bake about 30 minutes, or until topping is golden.
  14. Serve warm.
  15. Garnish each serving with whipped cream, if desired.
