I love cherries; can you tell?
CHERRY POUND CAKE
3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts (walnuts or pecans)
1 med. bottle maraschino cherries
1 tsp. vanilla
Cream sugar and shortening; add egg yolks. Then add flour, salt and soda with milk. Add cherries and nuts. Beat egg whites and fold in; add vanilla. Pour into stem pan and bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour.
ICING:
1 box confectioner's sugar 1 stick butter Cherry juice from bottle of Cherrie. Enjoy.
