Crust Edit

  • 1 box devils food cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Topping Edit

  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup each pecans, cashews and hazelnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions Edit

  1. Heat oven to 350 °F

Crust Edit

  1. Beat all ingredients in a bowl until blended.
  2. Spread in rimmed baking sheet lined with nonstick foil extending above pan edges.
  3. Bake 15 min. or until crust has risen then fallen in center.
  4. Cool in pan.

Topping Edit

  1. Whisk brown sugar, egg, corn syrup and vanilla in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Stir in nuts and chips, spread over crust.
  3. Bake 35 min. or until center no longer jiggles.
  4. Cool 25 min. in pan.
  5. Lift foil by ends and slide onto a cutting board.
  6. Cut into 32 bars.
  7. Peel off foil.

Serve on a platter, these go good with a cup of hot coffee. Makes 32 chewy nut bars.
