1 c butter, softened 2 c sugar 4 eggs, lightly beaten 1 Tbsp. vanilla 2 c all-purpose flour � tsp. salt 2 c chopped walnuts 2 1-oz. squares unsweetened chocolate, melted

FROSTING: 5 Tbsp. all-purpose flour 1 c milk 1 c butter, softened 1 c confectioners' sugar 2 tsp. vanilla

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour and salt; mix well. Fold in walnuts. Spread half of the batter into a greased 13x9 pan. Add chocolate to the remaining batter; mix well. Carefully spread over batter in pan. Bake at 350 for 30-35 min or until cake tests done. Cool completely.

For frosting, mix flour and milk in a saucepan. Cook and stir over med heat until a thick paste forms, about 10 min. Cool completely. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and confectioners' sugar. Add vanilla and mix well. Gradually add the milk mixture; beat for 5 min. Frost cake. Store in refrigerator.
