  1. Beat egg yolks.
  2. Combine yolks and Sugar in the top of a double boiler; gradually add milk.
  3. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture coats a spoon.
  4. Remove from heat; chill well.
  5. Beat egg whites until stiff; fold egg whites and whipped cream into custard.
  6. Stir in the brandy and rum.
  7. Chill several hours.
  8. Add vanilla, if desired, and sprinkle with nutmeg.
