Cola Barbecue Sauce
1 T. butter 1/2 small onion, minced 1 T. minced fresh ginger 1 garlic clove, minced 3/4 cup cola soft drink 3/4 cup ketchup 1/2 t. grated lemon rind 2 T. fresh lemon juice 2 T. Worcestershire sauce 2 T. steak sauce, such as A-1 1/2 t. liquid smoke 1/2 t. pepper Salt to taste
Melt butter in a heavy pan over medium heat. Add onion, ginger, and garlic; saute 3 minutes or until tender. Stir in cola soft drink; bring mixture to a boil. Stir in ketchup and remaining ingredients; bring to a boil. reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes. Serve with poultry. Makes about 1 1/2 cups. Source:Southern Living
