Store this dry cereal in a zip-top plastic bag in the freezer. To make the cereal a batch at a time, add 1/2 cup dry cereal mix to 1 1/2 cups boiling water for each serving.

  1. Place flaxseed in a spice or coffee grinder; process until coarsely ground.
  2. Combine flaxseed, oats, and next 8 ingredients in a large bowl, stirring well.
  3. Bring water to a boil in a large saucepan.
  4. Add cereal; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Uncover and cook 2 minutes or until thick, stirring constantly.
  6. Serve immediately.

Yield: 9 servings (serving size: 1 1/2 cups)
