Similar to free range chickens, this is a turkey that is not confined and is allowed to roam and feed on naturally grown feeds, consuming only a vegetarian diet. This differs from most commercially raised turkeys, which are confined to feed lots where the food consumed is commercially produced. Free Range turkeys are not given antibiotics in an effort to keep them from being exposed to unwanted chemicals. Many people like the flavor of free-range turkeys, however, their quality can vary widely and they are generally more expensive.
