Italian fried strawberries

  1. Mix the sugar with the liqueur, and add the berries.
  2. Mix well, and let sit for about one hour.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the flour and butter.
  4. Add the egg, and brandy.
  5. Add enough milk to make a smooth batter.
  6. Beat the egg white until stiff, and then fold this into the batter.
  7. Heat the oil to 375°F.
  8. Dip the berries into the batter, and fry until golden.
  9. Drain on paper towels, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve.
