  1. Thoroughly mix flour, baking powder, salt and spices and sift three times. Beat butter until smooth and light, add in Sugar gradually, then, still beating, eggs, juice, nuts, chutney, candied fruit and finally the flour, beating slowly.
  2. Pour into buttered loaf pans lined with buttered paper. Bake in slow oven (300 degrees) about two hours. In small molds, bake about 25 minutes. Remove paper and cool on rack.
