If you like your mashed potatoes smooth, a hand mixer works well, Otherwise, a potato masher or the back of a spoon or fork will do the trick.

  1. Place potatoes in a small saucepan, and cover with water.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat; simmer 13 minutes or until tender.
  4. Drain.
  5. Combine butter and minced garlic in a medium microwave-safe bowl.
  6. Microwave at HIGH 30 seconds or until butter melts.
  7. Add potatoes, milk, and salt.
  8. Mash mixture with a potato masher or fork to desired consistency.

Yield: 1 serving (serving size: 3/4 cup)
