Guinness-battered Onion Rings

A great appetizer to start off an Irish meal.

  1. Preheat oil to 360°F in a deep stockpot or deep-fryer.
  2. Combine flour, cayenne pepper, baking powder, cornstarch, salt and white pepper in a bowl.
  3. Whisk in Guinness until you get a smooth batter.
  4. Place onion rings in Guinness batter and coat well.
  5. Then transfer to the deep fryer and fry for 1 – 2 minutes or until the batter is golden brown.
  6. Remove excess oil by placing onion rings on absorbent paper.
  7. Season with salt before serving.
