  1. Place onion slice, clove of garlic and dill in quart jar.
  2. Boil water, vinegar, sugar, salt and alum
  3. Slice cucumbers (the size of silver dollars) into sterilized jars.
  4. Pour boiling liquid over pickles.
  5. Add spray of dill on top of jar and seal.
