This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Howell Estate in Canton, Texas in 1981.

  1. In a medium saucepan cook bacon pieces until they just begin to brown.
  2. Remove bacon from pan and drain but retain grease then add onion and sauté until tender.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and bring to slow boil then simmer 30 minutes.
  4. Allow cooling for one hour before serving.
