  1. Mix water and peas in large pan or kettle.
  2. Bring to boil.
  3. Add sausage chunks, salt and pepper.
  4. Reduce heat.
  5. Cover.
  6. Simmer 30 minutes.
  7. Add remaining ingredient and continue simmering until soup is slightly thickened and vegetables are tender, about 15 minutes.
  8. Serve at once.
