Lentil soup for the Crockpot

1/2 lb. lentils 6 slices bacon, diced or ham (hock) or both 1 cup chopped onion 3 carrots, chopped 1 clove garlic, crushed 2 T. parsley flakes 1 T. salt 1/4 t. ground pepper 1/2 t. oregano leaves 1 can stewed tomatoes (16 oz) 2 quarts water

Put all ingredients into crock pot and cook on low for 10 or more hours or until lentils and vegetables are very tender. If using ham hock, remove form pot and cut off any meat to return to pot. Adjust seasonings to your taste. Makes a thick hearty soup. Serve in large bowls. Serves 8 Source: My Old Recipes
