  1. Wash and soak the beans in cold water for 3 or 4 hours.
  2. Drain, add cold water t cover and cook until tender.
  3. Add the chopped onion and bring to boiling point.
  4. Add crushed walnuts to the beans.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Mix with a wooden spoon.
  7. Serve hot or cold sprinkled with chopped greens.
