Introduction

This is one of Bess Truman's favorite dishes. Bess Truman had a well-equipped kitchen and often prepared breakfast or lunch for her family. The Trumans also employed several African American women who cooked for the family.

Ingredients

• 8 oz. maccaroni

• ½ cup grated cheddar cheese

• 2 cups milk

• 1 egg

• ¼ cup oleo

Directions

1.Cook maccaroni. Drain & cool.

2.Place layer of maccaroni in baking

3.dish, then add layer of cheese. Repeat layers.

4.Combine milk & egg. Pour over maccaroni & cheese.

5.Dot with butter.
