Noodles with Onions

1 lb. noodles, cooked for 5 to 8 minutes and drained 3/8 cup butter 1/2 t. pepper 1/4 t. grated nutmeg 2 small onions, thinly sliced and pushed out into rings

Preheat oven to 300. Put noodles into large shallow ovenproof dish. Cut 2 T. of the butter into small pieces and dot the noodles with them. Sprinkle the pepper and nutmeg over noodles and put the dish in oven. Bake mixture for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in small skillet, melt remaining butter over medium heat. When foam subsides, add onion and cook, stirring occasionally for 6 to 7 minutes or until soft but not brown. Remove form heat. Remove dish of noodles from oven and stir well. Pour onion mixture over noodles. Increase oven to 350. return dish to oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes more or until onions re crisp. Remove from oven and serve at once.
