1. Peel potatoes and cut into long strips.
  2. Mix water, oil and Tabasco in a large bowl.
  3. Add potatoes and toss to coat thoroughly.
  4. Drain.
  5. Mix onion, garlic powder and coating mix.
  6. Add potatoes and toss until well coated.
  7. Place in a single layer on a foil-lined cookie sheet and bake in a preheated hot oven (400 degrees) for 30 to 35 minutes or until easily pierced.
  8. Sprinkle with salt and serve hot.
