  1. In a food processor, pulse 1¼ cups pecans until chopped, transfer to a bowl.
  2. Put remaining pecans and sugar in a food processor, pulse until nuts are finely ground.
  3. Add butter and eggs, process until smooth.
  4. Add flour, baking powder and salt, pulse until blended.
  5. Scrape dough into a bowl.
  6. Have cookie sheets ready.
  7. Roll dough into 1 inch balls, then roll in chopped nuts to coat.
  8. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  9. Press a caramel in center of each.
  10. Bake 12 minutes at 350°F or until edges are lightly browned.
  11. Dust with confectioners' sugar.
