Enjoy all the flavour of classic pecan pie in a handheld square - these are rich and tasty with a shortbread crust.

  1. Combine first 3 ingredients in medium bowl.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press firmly into greased 9 x 9 inch (23 x 23 cm) pan.
  4. Bake in 350°F (175°C) oven for 15 minutes.
  5. Beat egg in small bowl until frothy.
  6. Add next 6 ingredients.
  7. Beat until smooth.
  8. Add second amount of pecans.
  9. Stir.
  10. Spread evenly over butter mixture.
  11. Bake in 350°F (175°C) oven for about 20 minutes until filling is golden and set.
  12. Let stand in pan on wire rack until cool.

Cuts into 36 squares
