Description - Arroz con leche

Rice puddings are found in nearly every area of the world. Recipes can greatly vary even within a single country. The dessert can be boiled or baked. Different types of pudding vary depending on preparation methods and the ingredients selected. The following ingredients are regularly found in rice puddings. The arroz con leche is a delicious dessert typical of Peru. This recipe serves 8.

Ingredients

  • 2 T vanilla
  • 2/3 cups shredded coconut (optional)
  • 2/3 cups walnuts (optional)
  • 2/3 cups raisins (more or less to taste)

Directions

Boil the rice with the orange skin, cloves and the stick cinnamon for 15 minutes; the rice must be well cooked. Remove from the fire and take out the cinnamon, cloves and the orange skin. Add the two types of milk. Boil on low for 5 minutes and continue to stir with a wooden spoon. Add all the remaining ingredients except sugar and continue boiling for 3 minutes more. Let it cool down. Add sugar according to taste. Serve in individual serving dishes and sprinkle with the powdered cinnamon. Arroz con leche can be eaten warm or cold.
