  1. Soak the rice for 1 ½ hours.
  2. Boil the rice on medium heat until 3/4 cooked.
  3. Drain rice and set aside.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons of oil to a pot and heat on medium heat.
  5. Layer one layer of rice, then one layer of Sugar, coconut and then orange peel.
  6. Repeat layers then cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  7. When rice is done, add a few drops of the food colouring.
  8. Mix and serve.
  9. Before serving garnish with slivered almonds.
