- Often called red spinach because of the earthy spinach flavor.
- Similar to amaranth, but has dark red leaves and light-red stems.
- Mix red saag curries into plain rice turning it a pretty pink color.
- To cook cut off the lower tough stems, then wash and chop it coarsley.
- It can also be pureed and cooked with spices, or stewed with meats
