  1. In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the gin, lemon juice, and sugar.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a collins glass almost filled with ice cubes.
  4. Add the root beer.
  5. Stir well.
  6. Garnish with the cherry.
  7. Serve in: collins glass.
