  1. Stir sugar in milk, bring to a boil and remove from heat.
  2. Add figs slowly, stirring continuously.
  3. Pour into earthenware serving bowls and bake in moderate oven (350°F) for 10 minutes.
  4. Chill and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  5. Serve cold.
