Ingredients
- 2½ cups mashed strawberries
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons margarine or butter
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons margarine or butter
- ⅓ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- ice cream - optional
Directions
- Combine first 5 ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, margarine or butter, milk, and vanilla.
- Drop by spoonfuls into boiling strawberry mix; cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
- Cover; reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.
- Serve with ice cream.
