A Chinese pepper grown for its spicy hot flavor. This chile is generally 1 to 2 inches in length and red in color. It is often added whole or as oil to Asian soups, stews, sauces and stir-fried dishes as a flavoring. If used whole, the chile is removed and discarded before serving.
