Tomato Sauce Cubes

1/4 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup flour 1 can tomato paste (6 oz) 1 t. prepared mustard 2 t. sugar 2 t. onion powder 2 t. salt 1/2 t. basil 1/4 t. pepper 1/4 t. garlic powder 1 T. olive oil 3/4 cup water

Melt margarine in pan. Remove form heat. Add flour and stir until moistened. Add remaining ingredients except water; stir until smooth. Gradually stir in water. pour sauce into loaf dish. freeze until consistency of ice cream. Cut into 32 cubes. Remove to chilled tray. Freeze until solid. Package. Store in freezer (Four of these cubes add the tomatoes basil flavor fast) Tomato Sauced Green Beans: Cook 1 pint of frozen green beans (1 pkg) in 1/2 cup slightly salted water until tender. Add 4 tomato sauce cubes. Stir and continue to cook until sauce is smooth and thick. Note: You can make a bowl of tomato soup by heating 5 cubes in 3/4 cup milk. Makes 32 Source: My Old Recipes
