- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped green bell peppers
- ¼ cup butter or margarine
- ½ cup flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups chicken broth
- ¼ cup dry sherry or other dry white wine
- 2 cups coarsely chopped turkey
- 2 cups coarsely chopped cooked ham
- 1 x 8-ounce can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
- 1 x 4-ounce can sliced mushrooms, drained
- ½ cup diced pimentos
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 6 to 8 cups hot cooked rice
