Description
Turon is one of the very popular banana merienda (snack) of the Filipinos. They used a kind of banana called Saba, it's a thick and shorter than the normal banana, and similar to the red banana, then it is rolled with paper-thin wrapper (lumpia wrapper). After it is rolled, it's coated with sugar then it's deep-fried so it gives the crunch to the pastry.
Ingredients
- ripe bananas (saba), peeled and cut into half, lengthwise
- brown sugar
- 3 cups cooking oil
- lumpia wrappers (spring roll)
- 1/2 cup langka (jackfruit) preserves (optional)
Directions
Roll banana in sugar. Wrap banana (and langka if you have) in lumpia wrapper. Fry in hot oil until golden and crispy. Place turons on a plate (they will stick to paper towels) and add more sugar on top, if desired.
