An off-the-shelf cake mix (usually packaged in a box).
A plain vanilla cake mix. It is called yellow not plain because there are two types of plain cake, white and yellow. The difference is that a white cake would use only egg white while yellow cakes uses the yolks too. There might also be a slight difference in the type of flour used.
