What's Yoylecake[]
Yoylecake is a type of cake in the BFDI universe. It is made out of Yoyleberries which is a variety of berry that comes from a place known as Yoyleland. Side effects of eating this cake include turning into metal which makes the afflicted person impermeable to freeze juice. It is not specified why the cake or the berries turn things to metal when consumed.
Bubble is seen to like yoylecake a lot. One of her catchphrases is shouting “YOYLECAKE!” Which is typically exclaimed when something good happens.
In 2016, a contest known as “Battle of the Fantasy Foods” was hosted. This was a competition featuring 64 fictional foods from popular media (such as Moomoo milk from Pokémon and Nick Wilde’s popsicles from Zootopia) that would be voted on by viewers. The winner of these votes would be prepared and served for the guests of New York ComicCon 2016. Yoylecake was ultimately the winner.
Unfortunately, since yoyleberries do not actually exist, you cannot make a true yoylecake. However, you can create your own version of yoylecake using other ingredients.
Here is a recipe for a cake that is inspired by yoylecake:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9-inch cake pan with butter or cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk and stirring until just combined.
- Gently fold in the raspberries and blueberries.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve the yoylecake with whipped cream or frosting, if desired.
Enjoy your yoylecake!
